Winpak Control Group Innovations

100% Digital Vision

Already an industry leader in 100% vision technology, Winpak Control Group has raised the bar even higher.  The addition of real time digital vision on press enables immediate print deviation alerts and corrective action during production.  Simultaneous 100% electronic roll mapping is also utilized to further assist off-line QA review.  The roll map becomes a permanent component of the batch record and is also available for customer compliance pursuant to FDA 21 CFR Part 11.

Pre-Printed Thermoformable Plastics

How can you get printed thermoformable plastic substrates in roll form with intricate graphics and special effects with up to 13 colors?  We developed the print process that provides thermoformable plastic packaging material for major personal care products on the market today.  The process can be applied to PVC, APET, PETG, Polypropylene, and GAG substrates.  Package designers are able to reduce cost by eliminating label and/or billboard inserts to streamline the packaging process.

In response to the growing demand for short to medium blistered product run sizes, we introduced QuickFoil.  Now you can have up to 13 color printed foil with front to back registration using FDA compliant primary contact inks and heat seal coatings.  The advantage of this new innovation is that you can bring a finished product to your packaging line in just weeks instead of months and do so at a substantial savings from typical blister foil sources.  Add easier to read patent information for improved compliance, greater flexibility with shorter lead times, and 2-sided full bleed printing.

Flexo vs. Offset

Winpak Control Group utilizes modern flexographic printing in order to better serve our customers.  Times have changed and traditional offset printing simply cannot keep up with the high demands associated with quality, volume, and cost.  Images can rarely be customized without having to adjust the printer setup and once produced, the image quality is significantly inferior compared to flexographic printing.  Offset printing is also extremely time consuming and thus becomes more costly as it takes a considerable amount of time to produce plates and set up the press.  Flexographic printing makes print jobs much more feasible as the press can reach speeds of up to 2000 feet per minute and print on a variety of different materials including plastic, foil, acetate film, etc.  Also, flexographic inks have a low viscosity which enables faster drying and production, resulting in much lower costs.
